* Introducing The Russians, a Boston-based group led by Mister Scott Janovitz, who has been sideman to Graham Parker, The Figgs, Jake Brennan, and Garvy J. (aka Josh Hager). They trip across an artfully varied repertoire that hints of influences from the Beatles and Beach Boys to Nirvana, Wilco and the Flaming Lips. In other words, all bands that matter. The opening song could be a lost track from the Beatles' 'Magical Mystery Tour.' The Russians boast a warmly psychedelic feel, but also intersperse danceable guitar rock and '80s synth-pop to great effect.
